Healthy pumpkin spice donut holes

It’s been so nice to finally get back into the swing of baking all the time! Now that we have more of a routine with baby izzy, I have more freedom to spend time in the kitchen again. This month, I wanted to try and work with pumpkin puree – something I’ve never baked with before – and so far, it has given me some super yummy recipes! Last week, I made these skinny pumpkin muffins (if you haven’t tried them yourself, stop right now and go bake em…you will love them!) and this week I decided to try some healthy pumpkin spice donut holes. Next week and just in time for Halloween, I’ll be posting a recipe for easy Pumpkin Spice Snickerdoodles! A new mom’s tips for building solid friendships

Since having our daughter this past July (how has it already been 3 months?!), I’ve made a huge attempt to widen my circle of girlfriends by putting myself out there using the tinder-for-moms app: Peanut. I never got a chance (thank goodness LOL) to use any dating apps or websites,  so the idea of meeting someone online, chatting it up, and making a date to meet for the first time was heavily new (and a bit scary) to me. I kept reading these articles about “building your tribe” and how hangin’ with like-minded mamas is the key to sanity in the midst of motherhood, but I didn’t really know where to start…it’s not like you can just hop over to a bar grab a drink and start mingling with other moms (but they really should invent one of those omg…like a mommies + mimosas bar. But with childcare). So after hearing about this mommy dating app, I thought what the heck I’m on maternity leave and stuck inside most of the day, so I might as well give it a shot. 3 months into mommyhood

🍂Elizabeth June is THREE MONTHS now!🍂 Our sweetest little pumpkin is growing so so fast. It’s been such a whirlwind of emotions, watching her grow from a little beansprout to a fully functioning baby human. I keep thinking if I blink I’m going to miss a monumental moment, a smile, or a staring contest with her big blue eyes.It seems like she learns to do something new or progress on something she discovered every day! Like finding out that she had little tiny hands and fingers, and now she sucks her thumb intentionally. Or, finding out if she whimpers and whines then mommy comes running and picks her up. Or, that another baby lives in every mirror of our house and will make faces and blab back to her if she makes sounds and faces 😉 She’s such a darling, she’s so mellow and sweet-natured…some days I can’t believe she’s ours. It’s too good of a gift, and we are so blessed to have her in our life! Here’s a fun little update on our little Izzy June at 3 months old: Continue reading

How To Have A Fun Date Night (with your baby in tow)

Copy of how to get more(2).pngMy husband and I used to go out ALL the time before we had our baby – as I’m sure many pre-parents did! We did the movies almost every week, dinner dates, went out to watch bands play at bars late at night, spent hours at the beach, we’d go on long drives…but having kids totally changes that spontaneous dynamic!

Don’t get me wrong, we definitely have gone out several times since having our first baby in 2017 (we went out once a week or so every week since she was born) – but it’s just not the same to try and have a romantic date night together, let alone have it be spontaneous.

Lots of “date nights with baby” point to more of a stay at home/stay in type of deal, but there’s just some nights where all we want to do is dress up go out and not be stuck at home. If hiring a babysitter just isn’t in the cards yet (hello, they’re expensive!!), and if you don’t have parents who live close by to watch your littles (my own mom lives an hour away and my husband’s family is in a different state), then just take the kids with you! We’ve done it for ~80% of our date nights, and it’s actually worked out pretty well. Keep reading for our tips and tricks on how to do a really fun date night – with your new baby in tow!
