how to make your marriage ten times stronger by doing one simple thing

John and I have been together almost 4 years now, and two of those years we’ve spent married. We’ve had mostly ups out of our ups and downs, had to figure out how eachother processes and understands things, and we’ve allowed ourselves to become more and more vulnerable as our relationship has progressed.

Now don’t get me wrong, there are countless things that you can do for your marriage to make it stronger! These include taking marriage enrichment classes, joining a married’s small group through church, reading marriage-related books together, knowing each other’s love languages……..but there’s one major thing you need to do well in order to see those other things happen. What Motherhood has Taught me 6 months in

Yesterday was baby Elizabeth’s 6 month birthday! Half a year since she came into the world, and only half a year left until she’s made her first full trip around the sun. I can’t even wrap my mind around the fact that I have a 6 month old baby now, let alone the fact that she will be ONE this year and walking/talking by the end of the year! It’s too much for my brain to handle. I’ve been stretched thin, pulled in every direction, had my hair tugged, my heart strings tugged, been bitten, been smacked and splashed these last 6 months and I thought I would share 6 key things I’ve learned in my first 6 months of being a mom ❤ Scroll down to read them!

2017 Reflections // 2018 Goals and all about intentional living

When I was in high school, my best friend and I would hangout on New Years Eve and write out what we wanted to do differently in the coming year. We would make a bullet list on a note card, then seal it in an envelope until the next NYE only to open it and reflect on what we had written as goals and aspirations from the previous year. Then we would add another note card to the envelope on that NYE, and the cycle would continue ❤ We did that for years! And it was so amusing to open up that envelope each year and reflect on what I had written the previous year, checking off whether or not I lived up to my resolutions.

Last year, I thought nothing could top 2016 – after all, I planned a colorful and dreamy bohemian wedding, honeymooned to Ireland, got my masters degree, visited New York for the first time, AND we found out we were going to have a baby. So many of my dreams and ambitions were checked off! 2017 was a more mellow year for us, but one of the  most amazing blessings that came out of it was our beautiful baby girl!! Elizabeth June was born on July 7th, and the rest of the year after that we’ve spent adjusting to being a family of three (say whaaat!) – which meant adjusting our marriage and relationship around now being “mom and dad.” It hasn’t been easy, but it’s the best hard thing I’ve ever done 🙂

The fluffiest and yummiest Pumpkin Snickerdoodles

I don’t think I’ve ever actually had a snickerdoodle before. Honestly! John loves them, so I felt inclined to throw together a couple batches to see what the fuss was all about. In one batch I made Pumpkin Snickerdoodles, and the other batch I made regular snickerdoodles just for John.

I’ve been experimenting with using pumpkin puree in things I bake this month, and so far it’s been a huge success and a hit with my friends and husband 🙂 So here’s my fourth and final “fall favorites” pumpkin recipe for October – I hope you all have enjoyed making these with me! I was trying to think which recipe was my favorite one, and I seriously loved all of them…

But the pumpkin muffins though, now those were MOUTH WATERING! And I heard lots of great reviews from you all who tried my donut hole recipe too, saying they were gobbled up in 1 day!! Now, what ingredient should I focus on baking with for the month of November?!

DIY fall goody bag with banana oatmeal walnut muffins

When I was planning a pumpkin patch meetup the other day for a group of my mom friends and our babies, I wanted to gift each of them something festive and fun to say thanks for coming out. And what better way to do so than with food! ❤ So I whipped up a batch of these Banana Oatmeal Muffins and added in walnuts. I made each girl a goody bag with one muffin in it, and tied it off with twine and a simple note – a yummy, quick, and easy treat to celebrate the fall season. Here’s how to make your own fall-themed goody bag to give to your girlfriends at your next get together!
