My First Half Marathon – San Diego Half

My first ever half marathon was on March 8 and I ran it with one of my good friends, Janelle. This being my 6th race but my first half, I took my training super seriously. I wanted to run under a 2:10, and I did! But barely — my time was 2:08:43. I really want to get my time to under 2 hours!

My training schedule had me running 3-5 times a week (with Saturdays as my long run days), following a high protein meal plan, and cross train 3 times a week (which for me was Pure Barre and strength training). It was such an amazing experience and is something I want to continue to do at least twice a year!

My next race is the Carlsbad 5000 5k, on Sunday March 29 also with Janelle! This year is their 30th race anniversary, which means an awesome 30th anniversary race shirt will be in the mix!! And you can never have too many race shirts. I actually have a thing about running 5ks, and I wish I could do them every weekend — if only they weren’t $35-$45 bucks a pop.
