Aspen Joy: Our Baby’s Birth Story

father holding new baby in hospital fresh 48 photos

Our newest member to the family + our second baby girl Aspen Joy Allegri was born on May 8th 2019 at 10:40am! She weighed 8 lbs 11 oz, and measured 22″ tall. She came out with a head full of hair, and a loud set of pipes! After a long 41 weeks and an eventful day leading up to her birth, we were so excited to finally finally meet our newest daughter and to introduce Izzy to her baby sister.

John and I are thrilled to be second time parents, that our first baby girl is going to grow up with a sister, and to experience the joy that little Aspen has been bringing into our family even before she was born.

In this post I would love to share the story of how she made her entrance into the world, as well as reveal the most beautifully captured imagery of her first few hours taken by Chanel Lynn Photography. She did my maternity photos and is also doing our in-home newborn session next week! Continue reading

What To Actually Pack In Your Hospital Bag

what to pack in your hospital bagThe first time I was pregnant, I looked up all the things on Pinterest for ideas on what to pack in my hospital bag. I saw an overwhelming number of lists, claiming I needed so many things that were “essential” for a hospital stay! Such as: multiple changes of clothes for mom and baby, several swaddles, tons of snacks, multiple nursing gowns, hair straightener, hand sanitizer and lotions, a notepad, etc….I definitely overpacked for our first, and didn’t even touch or use 80% of the things I thought I needed.

The second time around, I am packing WAY less “stuff” and focusing on what I know I will actually need and use. I don’t want to overwhelm myself digging through a full weekender while I’m at the hospital, and you shouldn’t either 🙂

So I made a list of the only items I know I will need and want to use for when our second baby girl comes (hopefully this week, because her due date is tomorrow)! Read below for my list of overnight essential items to pack in your hospital bag during labor and delivery: Continue reading

How To Go Bold With Your Maternity Wardrobe

This post is generously sponsored by Pink Blush Maternity ❤ All opinions and reviews are always my own and 100% honest.

How am I already at the single digit countdown from our due date?! We’re 34 weeks this week, and baby girl is the size of a butternut squash ❤ Pregnancy the second time around seems to have gone a lot faster all across the board…my belly popped a lot sooner, the fatigue came a lot quicker, and my time frame to fit into my regular clothes was super short compared to when I was pregnant with Izzy.

I shared on my Instagram the other day that I’m realizing my favorite part about motherhood is after baby is born – though I love pregnancy, I’m more a fan of baby being out than in for 9 months! Luckily, I had an awesome wardrobe to grow into thanks to Pink Blush Maternity – my go-to boutique for maternity and postpartum clothing – which made dressing the bump so much fun! They made it super easy to dress stylish while staying comfortable throughout each trimester, and I could not be more grateful to have had such a gorgeous line of maternity clothing to choose from while pregnant with our second! 5 Quick and Healthy Snacks for Pregnant Moms

Now you definitely don’t have to be pregnant (or a mom) to enjoy these quick and healthy snacks. But, when you are expecting a baby or on the road to preparing your body for one, it’s necessary to evaluate what you’re eating and drinking, how often, and if you’re covering all the bases of balanced and proportional meals. Since I’m pregnant again, I knew it would be a smart idea to re-evaluate my food intake and figure out a healthy eating plan that my future self (and our new baby!) will thank me for.

Now meal planning for breakfast/lunch/dinner is one thing, but what about the times during the day where you’re in between meals and feel yourself getting prangry? *Prangry: pregnant + hangry! Not a good combo, says my husband haha* To keep your preggo tummy happy and fed, you will need to have some quick and healthy snack options up your sleeve to make during those times of craving crises.

I’ve rounded together some of my favorite clean-eating snacks that take no time at all to make, that keep my energy levels high in between meals, and taste good too! Here are my go-to top 5 favorites to make: Continue reading

Second Trimester Workouts You Can Do Anywhere

This post is sponsored by Pink Blush. All opinions and content are honest and my own. ❤

THE MINI APARTMENT - second trimester workouts you can do anywhere - sponsored by Pink Blush maternity clothes

Now that I’m in my second trimester (I’m 22 weeks now!), I’ve been devoting more time to working out and staying active. Whether it be going on walks outdoors or following fitness videos on YouTube, getting my sweat on is important to me to stay fit and healthy throughout this second pregnancy.

Only thing is, I was in desperate need of updating my active wear with pieces that actually fit. I’m growing a lot faster this time around, and my previous workout clothes from being pregnant with izzy were a bit snug and constricting, making it hard to get motivated to workout.

So when Pink Blush reached out to me to do a collaboration on dressing the bump, I was so excited to see what I could put together from their selection of trendy maternity clothes! I decided to go with maternity fitness clothing since it’s been a real struggle for me to find quality workout pieces that fit properly, were flattering, and stayed put while working out.
