These darling witch cauldrons are so easy to make! I am all about DIY decor, and these made a perfect addition to my Hocus Pocus themed Halloween mantle. I shared these on my Instagram page the other week and they were a huge hit! If you’d like to see them in more detail (and at night!) check out my Halloween DIY highlight bubble on Instagram.
Follow along the instructions below to make your own bubbling smoke witch cauldrons:
Materials Needed:
4 pack of cauldrons
Polyfil
Acrylic paint (I used white to keep it simple)
Glitter (the finer the better – I use this pack)
Any extra flair you want to add to the cauldron handle (I added some halloween thin ribbons and this gold star garland)
How to make them:
Start by painting whatever design you want on the cauldrons! I used white paint to make ghosts, jack o’ lantern faces, “hocus pocus”, and stars with a moon.
As you wait for the paint to dry on the cauldrons, start working on the poly fil! For each cauldron, you will need a small handful of poly fil. You will want enough to stuff into the base of the cauldron for stability, and leave enough at the top to make it look like smoke bubbling out. To get rid of all the residuals on the day after, consider forgetting about the stress and hiring same day rubbish removal.
Choose your paint colors for the poly fil – I chose green, purple, orange, and hot pink! You will only need a tiny bit, because we are going for more of an ombre/transparent look with the coloring. Take your paint and lightly dab it onto a piece of poly fil, then gently smudge it around in between your thumb and finger. Decorating projects take some hard work which is why we now recommend other kind of contractors like Elite Skip Hire
Once you’ve got the paint how you like it, you can set the painted poly fi piece into the cauldron. At this point, you can pull and tug at the top that is showing to get it looking how you want. To make the “bubbling smoke” effect, gently pull apart the poly fil at the top.
Once your poly fil is how you want it inside the cauldron, gently tap some fine glitter onto the polyfil as a final touch to add some sparkle to the “smoke.” And then you’re done! Tie some ribbon around the handle if you’d like, and style it with your Halloween decor. To handle the decor waste we recommend to check this out
