Neons + Stripes, And Thoughts On Trends

Since I attend a huge university, I get the pleasure enjoyment torture experience? of seeing all the latest trends happen all over the place…both the good and the bad. Here are some of the ones I’m seeing across campus a LOT:

— The unicorn dyed hair: something I was doing long before it was a trend and was over it just as quickly, just saying!
— White converse + leggings: This is everywhere on campus. I don’t even know why it’s a trend.
— The cotton shirt dress + white converse: Cute trend but the girls at my school don’t seem to know the difference between a too-short shirt worn as a dress, and a shirtdress. Ack.
— The lob: I’m loving this hair movement, but my hair has just gotten to long lengths so I’m not going to hop on that bandwagon yet. Maybe when I’m 30 and a chic soccer mom.
— Brights + Neons: always loving this one when done right!
— The flannel-tied-around-your-waist-trend: Not my favorite. So many cuter options than just tying it around your waist!
— The everyday-I-look-like-I’m-going-to-coachella trend: …No. Just…no.

I’ve never been one to follow trends that come out, or wear the “latest” styles. Shoot, I do what I want! *snap* …however if a trend comes out that I don’t mind following, I’ll twist it into my own style and make up a new version of it. I’m all about originality and trend-SETTING in the fashion realm! *thumbs up*

I had important places to be today, therefore I decided to throw on something that I feel shows my colorful-chic side, because I wanted to look fun and put together at the same time! And I also threw this outfit together in a hot minute. Here’s my take on mixing the shirtdress trend with the brights and neon trend:

Styled: Heels by Payless (similar here). Shirtdress by Marshalls (similar here and here). Purse by Charming Charlie Portland (different colors but similar here).  Pink Blazer by Francesca’s (similar here). And you can’t see it here, but I also wore my Anthropologie statement necklace with this outfit! You can see it being worn in my Floral Blues ootd.

And can I just say how stinkin’ cute is that little purse of mine?! I bought it JUST because it was scalloped and has cute little knobby things on it. I love how versatile this dress is, and it’s so cozy!! I’ll be posting about it again soon, next time for a more casual look <3

What a wonderful striped dress and the pink jacket is a great compliment. The heels fit well and complete the bright spring look. 😉
